Common name: Enrofloxacin Injection

Composition: Enrofloxacin

Character: Colorless to light yellow clear liquid.

Pharmacological effect:

Pharmacodynamics: Enrofloxacin is a broad-spectrum fungicide for fluoroquinolone animals. It has good effects on Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Klebsiella, Brucella, Pasteurella, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Erysipelas, Proteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, etc. Pseudomonas and Streptococcus are weaker and have weaker effects on anaerobic bacteria. It has obvious post-antibacterial effect on sensitive bacteria. The antibacterial mechanism of this product is to inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase, interfere with the replication, transcription, repair and recombination of bacterial DNA, and the bacteria cannot grow and reproduce normally and die.

Pharmacokinetics: The product is rapidly and completely absorbed by intramuscular injection, with a bioavailability of 91.9% in swine and 82% in cows. It is widely distributed in animals and can enter tissues and body fluids well, except for cerebrospinal fluid, the drug concentration in almost all tissues is higher than plasma. Hepatic metabolism is mainly the deoxidation of the ethyl 7-piperazine ring to generate ciprofloxacin, followed by oxidation and glucuronide binding. It is excreted mainly through the kidney (by renal tubular secretion and glomerular filtration), and 15% to 50% is excreted in the urine in its original form. The elimination half-life varies considerably in different species of animals and different routes of administration. The half-life of intramuscular injection of this product is 5.9 hours in cows, 1.5 to 4.5 hours in sheep, and 4.6 hours in swine.

Medicine interaction:

① This product has a synergistic effect when used in combination with aminoglycosides or broad-spectrum penicillins.

② Heavy metal ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe3+ and Ab3+ can chelate with this product, affecting absorption.

③ When used in combination with theophylline and caffeine, it can reduce the plasma protein binding rate, increase the concentration of theophylline and caffeine in the blood abnormally, and even cause symptoms of theophylline poisoning.

④ This product has the effect of inhibiting liver drug enzymes, which can reduce the clearance rate of drugs mainly metabolized in the liver and increase the blood drug concentration.

Indication: Quinolones antimicrobials. For livestock and poultry bacterial diseases and mycoplasma infection.

Usage and dosage:  Intramuscular injection: one dose, per 1kg body weight, 0.025ml for cattle, sheep, and swine, 0.025-0.05ml for dogs, cats, and rabbits. 1-2 times a day for 2-3 consecutive days.

Adverse reaction:  Degeneration of cartilage in young animals, affecting skeletal development and causing lameness and pain; Digestive system reactions include loss of appetite, diarrhea, etc; Skin reactions such as erythema, pruritus, urticaria and photosensitivity reactions. Occasionally allergic reactions, ataxia, seizures in dogs and cats.

Note:  Potential excitatory effect on the central system, inducing seizures, use with caution in dogs with epilepsy; Use with caution in carnivorous animals and animals with renal dysfunction; occasional crystalluria may occur; This product is not suitable for dogs before 8 weeks of age; The drug-resistant strains of this product are multi-dimensional, and should not be used for a long time under the dose of submetabolic therapy.
